The SPROUT mission is to democratize access to technology by providing free computer coding & entrepreneurship lessons in impoverished communities around the world.Â
Â
Together with local artists & artisans, we wish to invite you for a night of good vibes, food, drinks & company as we celebrate our first, incredible year on the ground in Zimbabwe. Â
Â
The "Innovation Hub" is our signature project at SPROUT and it's something we wish to scale across Zimbabwe, Africa and the world.
Each of these spaces trains & employs 20-25 local community members to be able to teach our school coding curriculum. Once they start volunteering with the kids, they continue learning our advanced front-end curriculum, while earning a training stipend.
The goal is to make these spaces unique for the high-density, low-income environments they're in, and entirely sustainable.
Built from recycled shipping container & equipped with solar panels, these off-grid coding hubs will someday pay for themselves as we train the instructors to become revenue generating developers. Â
This summer, we are raising funds to build our next Innovation Hub in memory of Nicki, a son, brother and dear friend to so many of us.
Â
In addition to building this space, we are partnering with Makers Academy London to create the Nicki Keszler Scholarship fund which will enable students from SPROUT to attend the four month coding bootcamp in London.
Â
This piece, a limited edition Russell Young mugshot, was a gift given to Nicki after graduating from the Makers Academy, and will be donated by the Keszler family.Â
Nicki was passionate about coding, traveling & helping others. Although he is no longer around to live out these passions, we're so happy to be able to eternalize his memory in this special way.Â
